We are the Higgins Environment Action Team (HEAT), supported by GetUp! We are committed to effective climate change responses in Higgins – a seat in play at the last election and likely to be so again. We are inviting you to a Zoom welcome night so we can get to know each other and plan to work together.
HEAT recently ran a forum in the community with one of the goals being identifying ideas from Melbourne's inner south-east areas for local projects that are good for people and the planet and we are committed to campaigning for the implementation of some of the more promising projects.
Our comming working bee workshops is to build on our idea of a climate safe Higgins. Here are the goals we are going to be working in the comming workshop:
- Higgins climate neutral by 2030. This includes getting local member Katie Allen supporting this and getting funding from the government.
- Solar power in HIggins in schools and at community level and for renters.
- Gardiner's creek remediation and improved environmentally appropriate amenities
- Clean Recovery Plan – an overarching plan for climate change response that recognises the need to reduce and eliminate climate change hazards that provides secure jobs growth.
This workshop is very important since our team belivies is the perfect oportunity to collaborate and work along with the community. We would love for you to join us in campaining for these important projects in Melbourne's inner south-east.
The workin bee workshop "Designing a climate safe recovery for Higgins" is on Monday the 30th of November from 6pm-7pm for anyone who help us build the Clean Recovery Campaign for Higgins. Please fill out the details on the right to RSVP to the event.
