GetUp Hobart Action Weekend

The GetUp Hobart Action Group is hosting and supporting a series of events from Thursday Feb 22nd - Sunday Feb 25th, to get you motivated and ready to enact change! These events range from documentary screenings to productive workshops. We hope you will find your way to one or many of these events over the 'long' weekend!

Thursday, Feb 22nd
'#StopAdani: A Mighty Force' Screening @ Sustainable Living Tasmania, 7:00 - 8:30 PM
Hosted by Climate Action Hobart. Come and watch the premiere Hobart screening of the documentary, detailing the rise of the #StopAdani movement from the grass-roots to a national movement against the Adani coal mine in Queensland. RSVP here:

Friday, Feb 23rd
GetUp Hobart Meet-and-Greet @ The Duke of Wellington, 5:30 - 8:30 PM
The GetUp Hobart crew are having a casual night of drinks and nibbles at The Duke! We will be joined by Vicky Fysh from GetUp HQ, so come to meet the team, learn about our local and national initiatives, and slake your well-earned thirst! Come and tell us what local issues have been bothering you. Newcomers always welcome, so feel free to bring a friend along! :)

Saturday, Feb 24th
GetUp Hobart Workshop @ The Wilderness Society, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Join us for an interactive day of workshops, campaign updates and group planning! We will be bringing everyone up to speed on GetUp's national campaigns, training everyone in persuasive conversations and strategising, and planning our group's work for the next few months. We would love to meet you, hear what makes you want to take action, and help you develop your skill sets. You'll also get to meet and socialise with like-minded people who care about the same stuff you do! There are over 14,000 GetUp members across greater Hobart! Whether you are a member or not, all are welcome to build this movement.

Sunday, Feb 25th
March for takayna / Tarkine @ Franklin Square, 12:00 - 2:00 PM
Hosted by the Bob Brown Foundation. Help us rally to preserve Australia's largest temperate rainforest and thousands of years of Aboriginal history! Formerly protected Tasmanian forests and national heritage coastline are threatened by logging and development initiatives. If you would like to volunteer, register here:

Project Drawdown Lecture @ Stanley Burbury Theatre, UTAS Sandy Bay Campus, 5:00 ~ 6:30 PM
Hosted by The 25th Richard Jones Memorial Lecture. The most comprehensive plan ever proposed to reverse global warming! Paul Hawken drew together some of the finest minds to organise the top 100 most substantive, existing solutions to climate change. This culminates in a proposal to reverse global warming within 30 years! Everything needed is on hand, nothing new needs to be invented! For more information:

Please feel free to contact us with any enquiries. We hope you will join us at one or many of these events :D

All events not hosted by the GetUp Hobart Action Group are initiatives supported by the independent members of the Action Group, and do not necessarily reflect the interests of GetUp as an organisation.
