Sydney Community Calling: Qld State Election

Since the launch of the stop Adani campaign, our movement has put relentless pressure on our MPs to take a stronger stand on Adani's disastrous Carmichael Mine. And last week, our efforts culminated in the Queensland Government’s explosive announcement last Friday to veto the NAIF loan if re-elected. This is a testament to our power and commitment. Together we have made a movement that dragged the Queensland Labor Party to this point.

Now is the time to act. This announcement has seriously upped the ante in the Queensland state election. To make sure that Queensland has a government that will help us stop Adani, we need to have thousands of persuasive phone conversations with voters, to make sure that Queensland votes in a government that will stand in the way of the Federal government handing $1 billion of public money to Adani.

This Queensland election is the best chance we have to stop the Carmichael Mine from going ahead.

When: Wednesday, 22nd November 2017, 6:00-8:30pm.

Where: Sydney GetUp Office, Level 14, 338 Pitt Street, Sydney.

Bring: Yourself, a phone and some headphones if you have some!

Over the next three weeks, we have set the goal of making over 100,000 calls to the voters who we know will decide the future of Adani’s billion-dollar bailout.

We know this strategy works. One-on-one conversations between ordinary Australians has been the driving force of the most effective people-powered campaigns.

All training and resources are provided, so all you need to bring is yourself and your phone! Headphones could be handy too, if you have some. We can promise great training, tasty snacks and a few laughs along the way.
