What: Public action outside Dutton’s Sydney speech on nuclear
Where: Corner of Martin Place and Pitt Street, Sydney NSW
When: 11 am - 12:15 pm Monday 23 September 2024
This coming Monday, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton will give a speech on nuclear in Sydney. And we cannot let his toxic, misleading rhetoric go unchallenged.
His toxic scheme for 7 nuclear plants would delay the transition from coal and gas to clean, cheap renewables – with slow nuclear the most expensive form of electricity.
He’ll be hoping to use this moment to spread disinformation and avoid answering to communities, especially those who would be saddled with forever radioactive waste.
For decades, First Nations communities have led the fight to protect water, Country and community health from nuclear waste dumps. We must back them in by taking on Dutton’s lies before they gain traction.
With a show of people power outside the venue, together we can send a clear message to Dutton and the media covering his speech – communities want clean, safe renewable energy, not expensive, risky nuclear.
