After a decade of campaigning, Traditional Owners across the Northern Territory have successfully forced Origin Energy to sell one hundred percent of their dangerous fracking stakes in the Beetaloo Basin.
But the fight is far from over, and it’s time to shift our focus. Origin have sold to Tamboran Resources, who now plan to frack as early as October this year.
Tamboran has already received $7.5 million in public funding from the Morrison Government, and has since been dodging accountability.
Now they’re relying on their low public profile to get away with drilling through precious groundwater in the Beetaloo, destroying sacred Country and putting remote Aboriginal communities’ health at risk.
That’s where we come in: Tamboran is holding a meeting on 25 October. On the same day, Labor will be announcing their first budget.
Join us outside their meeting to show Tamboran’s investors and the public that we stand in solidarity with Traditional Owners from across the NT who have never given consent to fracking and strongly oppose public money being funnelled into devastating fossil fuel projects.
