Nominations for the upcoming council elections have just been released and with climate action as our most pressing generational issue, it's important to know how each nominee stacks up before we cast our vote.
This election will be held via postal vote only due to COVID-19 restrictions. So before you drop your important envelope in the letter box, please join us for an online forum over zoom where we will be asking your prospective councillors questions that will reveal their stance on climate action in Stonnington as they respond to the following questions:
- Do you agree there is an urgent need for climate action in Stonnington? Yes or No.
- The City of Stonnington has declared a climate emergency. If elected, how will you support action to address that emergency?
- What is your No.1 priority for climate action in Stonnington?
- If elected, which existing local climate action initiatives would you support being expanded?
Responses by the candidates will be followed by a Q&A session.
This forum is being coordinated by GetUp’s South-East Climate Justice group, which is committed to supporting the implementation of the most promising ideas following the forum. The forum will be recorded, and will subsequently be available online.
Recovering from these COVID times will be challenging, and we're asking each candidate how their policies will support our recovery by providing future-proof work and industries in an environmentally responsible
Please fill out the form on the right to RSVP to the event. You will be provided with a link to the event via email.
We look forward to seeing you there.
