Bennelong #WRITEYes Teams Catch Up, Sun 12 Nov 2023

There were three #WriteYes polling booth teams in Bennelong electorate for the referendum and Irene and her partner have volunteered their Carlingford home for an informal get together.
I was on the same booth as Irene, am a Bennelong resident and also coordinator of an "Action Group" of GetUp members in SW Sydney who have been campaigning since late 2017 on a variety of issues.
This casual afternoon gathering is a great chance to get to know other like-minded GetUp members, exchange ideas for upcoming campaigns and outline steps for next year.
There will be many in our community who supported the referendum and have not had an opportunity to share their emotional outcomes with like minded people.
This informal gathering is an opportunity for us to slow down and listen to other guests, perhaps singly or in small groups and to process our emotional outcomes from the referendum together before moving forward in the New Year.
And it would be great to talk about whether we have enough people interested in forming a "Bennelong Action Team". The SW Sydney Action Group can sponsor the team initially using its GetUp software and database access.
Can we also decide a date in February and a park for a 2024 Kickoff picnic where we can invite friends and family to start growing the Bennelong Action Team.
IF YOU CANT ATTEND on the 12th, there is a separate link where you can register your interest in the proposed Bennelong Action Team and we will keep you up to date on events and campaign opportunities - Cant attend, register me for the team.
