2024 Kickoff Gough Whitlam Park Picnic, Sun 18 Feb 2024

We’d love you to join us for a picnic at Gough Whitlam Park on Sunday 18th February to Kickoff 2024.

We're a team of local GetUp members who share a passion for environmental justice, human rights, democracy and economic fairness. We have been campaigning since our first meeting in October 2017.

In 2023 we had a huge impact putting First Nations Justice front and centre. Along the way many members committed to their first face to face action including at street stalls and polling booths, sharing experiences in motivated teams.

In January members, despite the heat, supported making Invasion Day a focus on the importance of Treaty and Truth Telling across state and federal governments.

Plans for this year include much more including delving into how we safeguard our democracy against rising misinformation and disinformation.

The picnic is an opportunity to exchange ideas with like minded people, catch up with old friends, welcome new members and to discuss campaign options to move toward a better future.

We will meet near the kiosk at midday and hopefully snare our traditional table.

Bring your friends and family.

There is no penalty if you rsvp and dont make it on the day.  RSVPs will receive my mobile number in case you have any issues on the day.

What: Barton Picnic to informally renew friendships and welcome newly active members.

When: midday Sunday 18th February

Where: Gough Whitlam park, Earlwood, we expect to be near the kiosk/children’s play area.

Who: Friends and family welcome!

BYO everything, ie we are not catering so consider bringing food/drinks. The kiosk and toilets are nearby. Please note, seating near the kiosk is limited, consider a picnic rug/chair.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
Mark Rogers, our Campaign teams and the rest of the Barton Group including Banks, Bayside, Canterbury Bankstown and Georges River areas.

We love connecting with each other and nothing beats doing that face to face but Coronavirus is still around.

So please stay home if you have or suspect you have coronavirus and even though we are outdoors, please stay aware of social distancing and other relevant precautions.

I acknowledge that we meet on the land of the Eora Nation. I wish to pay respects to their elders and acknowledge the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within Australia and the GetUp community.
