Barton Calling Party to Fight Corporate Tax Cuts 19 July 2018

A critical opportunity to fight the corporate tax cuts

With the help of Pauline Hanson and the Centre Alliance Senators, the Turnbull Government just handed away over $140 billion in public funds – most of it to high income earners.

But it’s not over there. The Turnbull government wants to go one step further, and pass $80 billion in corporate tax cuts for big businesses next.
Will they succeed? That could depend on the result of the Super Saturday by-elections, where Turnbull’s tax agenda will be in the public spotlight.

So we’re hitting the phones to have conversations with voters in the critical by-election seat of Longman about how powerful their vote is, and to make sure they know where the parties stand.

Can you join us on Thursday 19 July to have conversations with voters in Longman?

It’ll be a fun time with great, passionate people — just bring your phone fully charged and a set of earphones/pods if you have them.

BYO refreshments and snacks to share

Hope you can make it!

What is a calling party?

Having personal conversations through phone calls is a core tactic of the GetUp Action Network. By connecting on the pivotal issues that voters in Longman care about, we'll be able to shift votes away from political parties with poor policies on issues we care about.

Getup's cutting-edge calling software covers call costs (if you wish) and keeps your mobile number secure.

What happens at a calling party?

We’ll start the evening with an explainer and you will be given a conversation guide to use and all the technical details you’ll need. A more experienced caller will make some calls in front of you so you can get the idea and then if you feel ready you can make your own calls (you can take breaks whenever you like).

There will be someone you can ask questions to at any time throughout the night. We’ll finish calls around 7:30 pm when we will have a debrief , share our individual experiences, then relax with like minded people.
