Barton Action Group Meeting Sept 2019

If you havent heard of us, we are the Barton Action Group, a team of local GetUp members who share a passion for environmental justice, human rights, democracy and economic fairness.

The post election landscape is clear
  • We know that we are facing a climate crisis.
  • We know the Morrison Government is threatening to repeal the legislation to resolve an offshore medical emergency, legislation that Barton members campaigned for outside the Immigration Minister's office last year.
While politicians wrangle generous tax cuts for big corporations and high income earners we're still facing a climate crisis.

The climate crisis won't wait, and neither will the  Morrison Government.

Many have hosted get togethers in their homes to discuss possible climate strategies and have reached out to businesses, community groups and workplaces to build support for the climate strike.

Our refugee working group has encouraged members to send emails and letters to parliamentarians to explain why the Medevac legislation should be retained.

This meeting is an opportunity to share recent achievements and review opportunities and plans to reenergise existing relationships and build new relationships with the Banks and Barton communities.

At the meeting you will be sharing ideas with other like-minded Getup members then chatting over byo refreshments.

Come along to our meeting at Bardwell Park on Friday 27th September at 6.30pm.
