GetUp Cunningham Working Group Meeting June 2018

Are you willing to help create a fair, flourishing and just Australia?

We’re a team of local volunteers who share a passion for pursuing environmental justice, human rights, democracy and economic fairness. Join us!

Shaun Murray, GetUp's NSW Lead Organiser, will facilitate this meeting. The format of our monthly Monday night meeting is for us to begin and end as one group, and in the middle we split into working groups around different issues/campaigns. Pick the issue you most want to work on.

Our working groups are in different stages of planning campaigns and actions for:
  • #StopAdani: So much going on in this campaign! Paint the Town, Politics in the Pub, building allies to persuade the ALP to pledge to review the mine approvals. Every month we get closer to stopping the Adani Carmichael mine!
  • Dickson Community Survey:  Celebrating and debriefing after our successful June community calling campaign - and deciding: what next? To support the Dickson Action Group this working group organised calling parties to survey voters in the Dickson electorate - to learn the issues they care most about and what they thought of MP Peter Dutton. Responses will inform a future campaign.
  • Refugees: Celebrating and debriefing after successfully co-sponsoring the Illawarra RAC Refugee Week Rally - and deciding: what next?
  • Democracy: Discussing ways to strengthen our democracy, and making plans to do something about it!
The Community Centre is close to public transport, parking, and is wheelchair accessible. Tea, coffee & biscuits are provided, but it’s great if you’d like to bring along extra food or drinks you’d to share. Children are most welcome too!
